Dimovi students took apart some of the extra LCD monitors in their homes and modified them a little, so a privacy monitor that only you can see the content appeared on the local scene.

The specific process is simple: after disassembling the display, peeling off the polarizing film on the LCD screen, and reassembling it, it becomes a display that looks like a white screen. Then you just need to make the glasses with the stripped polarized film, and you can see the contents when you put it on.

I borrowed a schematic from HowStuffWorks to see that the two yellow films on the front and back of the picture are polarized films:
